Hello from Melbourne, Australia!

Hello to our new Quadblogging friends! We wanted to tell you a little bit about ourselves so we decided to take some photos and make a video. We have been practising using the digital camera and we each chose something about our school to show you.

We took the photos ourselves and Mrs Kennedy videoed us.
We hope you enjoy this snapshot of life at St. Luke's.

Our Rabbits

We are patiently waiting for our rabbits to be born so they can come and visit in our classroom. We made some rabbits with cotton wool, cotton buds, joggle eyes and little pink felt circles. We also made a safe habitat on a paper plate. We are now practising how to be responsible for our little bunnies and are taking good care of them.
Here are our pet rabbits.

Thanks Mrs Hibbins for the great idea!

Responsible Pet Ownership

For our Inquiry this term our big questions are:

What do living things need to grow and change?
How can we help care for animals in need?

This week we had a visit from our local Veterinarian nurses Erin and Tara. They brought along their beautiful labrador Kirri. Erin and Tara told us how to care for a dog and how to be safe if you meet a dog without its owner.
We learnt that dogs need water, food, exercise and loving care.

Checking for healthy teeth!

Who is the new vet ready for surgery?
Checking Kirri's heart.

Make yourself as small as you can if you meet a dog without its owner.

Thank you Erin, Tara and Kirri!

Prep K brainstormed some questions to ask the Vet nurses about what a Vet does.

Fantastic questions and wonderings Prep!

Learning new skills!

We are learning to use a digital camera to take pictures of our rabbits when they arrive next week. This is what we have learnt about using a camera:
  • be careful with the camera
  • hold the camera still
  • look at the screen to check your shot
  • push the button carefully
We practised taking photos in our classroom. Here is a slideshow of our photos.

The Preps are VERY creative!

Can you give us some hints on how to take good photographs?

Rabbit Discoveries!

We are very excited to be having some rabbits in our classroom next week. We will be able to watch them grow and change.

We were wondering what we needed to do to get ready for our rabbits so we asked two of our Grade 6 buddies who have rabbits to come and talk to us.
First we brainstormed some questions to ask our guest speakers who are 'experts' in caring for pet rabbits - thank you so much Chloe and Amy!

Listening to experts is a great way to learn!

Our special guest 'experts'
We have discovered so many things about rabbits - here are our discoveries:

What do you know about caring for rabbits?
Do you know any other facts about rabbits?

Welcome back to Term Two!

We hope everyone has had a fantastic holiday - Term Two is going to be a very exciting and busy term.

On Monday we started the day with an Easter Egg Hunt (not the chocolate kind!). Easter Bunny left all the letters of the alphabet hidden around our playground. We had to find each letter and tick it off our list.

This term we want to continue to learn to work together and cooperate. So we chose partners from our friends in Prep D and helped each other to find our letter Easter eggs.

We had so much fun!!
