It's Holidays!

Here in Melbourne, Australia we have just begun a two week holiday. Last night I started my holiday break by going to the footy. In Australia we follow the AFL (Australian Football League) and the finals have begun. My team Collingwood played at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) against Hawthorn. It was a very exciting game and Collingwood won! (by 3 points). Next Saturday they will play in the Grandfinal against either Geelong or West Coast Eagles (depending on who wins today). The crowd was amazing! What a great way to start the holidays!
My nieces after the game - the whole family barracks for Collingwood.

What are you doing in the holidays?

  2. Hi Mrs England
The 'footy' is football - our football is called Australian Rules footy. It is finals time here - the teams play to see who the best team is for the year. It was a big night - there were over 80,000 people at the ground to watch the match. Two popular teams were playing. The AFL (Australian Football League)is very popular all over Australia particularly where it first started in Vitoria (right here in Melbourne).
Hope that helps! My team Collingwood is playing Geelong on Saturday in the Grand Final. All of Melbourne is very excited.
Go Pies!! (Collingwood's mascot is a Magpie a black and white Aussie bird).

  3. Preps - I can't believe you are exposing our visitors to Collingwood as the best team in the AFL! Dear Quadbloggers - Essendon is clearly the greatest team although we are not in the Finals (This year!!) I hope you learn alot about our school and our learning here at St Luke's! Our Preps are amazing and inspire all our students and staff to learn, think and imagine new possibilities every day! We are enjoying the opportunity to experience your schools too and learn from your students. Thank you for joining us on the journey!
